Job Description: Estimator and Takeoffs Specialist

Position Overview 

The Estimator and Takeoffs Specialist is responsible for preparing accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from architectural plans and specifications. This role requires advanced proficiency in PlanSwift software, strong analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail. The specialist will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure bids and budgets are based on precise calculations. Work hours are fixed at 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to perform detailed takeoffs.
• Quantify materials, labor, and equipment requirements with precision.
• Utilize PlanSwift to generate digital takeoffs and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare cost estimates and support bid submissions.
• Identify discrepancies or omissions in plans and communicate findings promptly.
• Collaborate with project teams to validate takeoff accuracy and provide input for budgets.
• Maintain organized documentation and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Use Google Sheets for data entry, reporting, and project tracking.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in estimation and plan takeoffs.
• Proven expertise in PlanSwift software.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural plans.
• Advanced knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
• Competence in Google Sheets and other data management tools.
• Ability to prepare accurate cost estimates and detailed reports.
